Leasehold Interest
A leasehold interest is the tenant's possessory interest created by a lease, giving the tenant the right to occupy and use premises for a defined term under defined conditions. Leasehold interests can be transferred (assignment/sublease) only if allowed by the lease and applicable law, and they may have economic value when contractual rent differs from market rent.
