How do I close an open DOB permit from a previous renovation?

Contact a licensed expediter or your original contractor to file the necessary sign-off documentation with the Department of Buildings. You may need a final inspection if one was never completed. If the work was done without a proper permit originally, you may need to file a new permit and legalize the work retroactively - which can cost $5,000 - $25,000+ depending on scope. Start this process months before listing, not during closing.
