What is a re-trade and how do I respond to one?

A re-trade is when a buyer attempts to renegotiate the price or terms after an offer has been accepted, usually citing a newly discovered issue during due diligence. Respond by calculating your BATNA first - can you find another buyer quickly? Then demand written evidence (contractor quotes, inspection reports) supporting the claimed issue. Often the buyer's threat to walk is a bluff because their own sunk costs make walking away painful.
