Can I test the market off-market and then list publicly?

Yes - a hybrid approach (brief off-market testing followed by public launch) captures some benefits of both strategies. You get pricing feedback and potential buyer interest without burning your "new listing" window. However, set a clear timeline - if the off-market effort does not produce an acceptable offer within 2-3 weeks, transition to public marketing immediately. The longer you stay off-market, the more potential buyers you miss.
