What well water flow rate do lenders require?

Most lenders require a minimum of 3-5 gallons per minute sustained flow for residential mortgage approval. FHA requires a flow test demonstrating adequate supply for the household. Low flow rates can be addressed with storage tanks and pressure systems ($2,000 - $5,000), but a well that produces less than 1 GPM may require hydrofracturing ($3,000 - $8,000) or drilling a new well ($5,000 - $15,000). Test flow rate before listing to avoid lender-driven delays.
